Test: Shoe Guide
Court shoes are built for short lateral movements, quick stops and pivots. Running shoes are designed for forward motion and can roll on the side of the sole during a sudden change of direction.
A flat, durable outsole and a supportive upper are the two features most players notice first.
Indoor versus outdoor soles
Outdoor courts wear soles down quickly, so a harder rubber compound and a deeper tread usually last longer. Indoor gym floors reward a softer gum sole that grips without marking.
